Mentour Pilot is a widely followed aviation YouTube channel that explains aircraft operations, industry procedures, accident/incident histories, and pilot life from an insider perspective. The channel aims to make aviation accessible and educational for both enthusiasts and professionals, covering topics from technical systems to operational decision-making and safety concepts.

Mentour Pilot has grown into one of the largest aviation channels on YouTube, with over ~2.3–2.4 million subscribers and more than 500 million views across hundreds of videos as of early 2026.

The channel is presented by Petter Hörnfeldt, a Swedish airline pilot with extensive experience flying the Boeing 737 and serving as a training captain and examiner. He founded the channel in March 2015 to share constructive, unbiased aviation content grounded in real cockpit experience.

What it covers:

Videos range from deep dives into historical accidents and incident analyses to discussions of aircraft systems, procedures, and industry trends. Content often breaks down complex topics into understandable explanations, combining storytelling with technical insight.

Mentour Pilot can be a rich source of case studies for CRM training because many episodes analyse real incidents where communication breakdowns, decision-making errors, situational awareness lapses, or teamwork dynamics played key roles.

Trainers can use these videos to:

  • Illustrate Threat and Error Management (TEM) concepts with real examples.
  • Highlight the human factors behind accidents beyond just technical failures.
  • Spark discussion in CRM courses about decision quality, crew communication, and error chains.
